Regardless of trade, what would you say is the absolute best advice you ever received as it relates to business, your craft or heck, even just life?

“Don’t go too big too fast.” Then I did and soon realized why I was told that.
Good advice, for sure! What happened when you did get too big, too fast?

I don't think he's joined us (yet) here on the forum, but Chris Caudy, who we also interviewed on the Good Contractor Podcast, had a similar feeling about some advice he received where an older mentor of his at one point urged him to go big, fast and buy anything and everything he would need and worry about it later. He declined and wanted to go slow and certainly was the better strategy.

"Spend 80% of your time on the 20%."

Assuming that 80% of the results come from 20% of the work, spending 80% of your time improving the 20% will get you further than trying to improve the other 80%.

In other words, focusing on making the "good" even better is more worth your time than trying to make the "okay" better.
