Feature Request: Allow AI Tools to Read PDF Contents Through CompanyCam MCP

We use CompanyCam to manage construction projects, proposals, subcontractor invoices, and financial documents.

We have connected CompanyCam to ChatGPT and would like AI tools to be able to read the actual contents of uploaded PDFs, rather than only document names, metadata, and attachment URLs.

This would allow contractors to automate job-cost tracking, verify subcontractor invoices, compare actual costs against proposals, and generate profitability reports without downloading and re-uploading documents.

Ideally, this capability would respect CompanyCam's existing document permissions, including Restricted access.

This would be a valuable improvement for contractors who want to use AI with their existing CompanyCam workflows.

Hey Kelly, good news! We shared your request with our product team, and it’s now live in CompanyCam.

AI tools connected through the CompanyCam MCP can now read the text inside your uploaded documents, including PDFs, instead of only seeing the name and download link. Your AI assistant can use the new get_document_content tool to pull in a file’s contents, so you can check sub invoices against proposals or track job costs without downloading and re-uploading anything.

It works best on text-based PDFs, so scanned copies may not read as well.

It also respects your existing permissions, so Restricted documents stay hidden from anyone who doesn’t have access.
