Set Manual Date for Uploaded Photos

Title: Prompt for photo date when uploaded photos are missing capture-date metadata

When photos are uploaded into CompanyCam rather than taken directly within the app, CompanyCam appears to use the upload date if the original “date taken” metadata is missing.

This creates a problem with project timelines. For example, if someone texts or emails us photos from a job and we upload them several days, weeks, or months later, those photos can appear in CompanyCam as though they were taken on the day they were uploaded. This can make the project history inaccurate and potentially misleading.

It would be very useful if, when CompanyCam detects that an uploaded photo does not contain a reliable original capture date, it prompted the person uploading it with something like:

“CompanyCam could not determine when this photo was taken. Use today’s date or enter the actual date?”

The user could then either:

  • Use the upload date; or
  • Manually select the actual date the photo was taken.
Ideally, there would also be a way for authorized users to correct the date of an existing photo afterward if the wrong date was assigned.

This would be especially useful for contractors who receive project photos from employees, subcontractors, customers, consultants, or other trades and need CompanyCam to maintain an accurate chronological project record.

Open task export

Hey there!

An export of Tasks is not available today, but I'm passing your request to the Product team! I can't make any promises, but I can guarantee it will get in front of the right people!

A couple of things that might get you close in the meantime:
  • My Stuff pulls everything assigned to you across every Project into one view, so if you're mainly tracking who-owes-what, that's the fastest place to see open items without clicking project to project.
  • Checklists export to CSV. If some of this recurring work could live as a checklist instead of loose tasks, you can pull it from Company Settings → Exports (or the Checklists page on web), pick your date range, and get a spreadsheet emailed to you. For punch lists and inspections, that's often a cleaner fit than Tasks anyway.
  • If you're comfortable with a little setup, our MCP, API, and Zapier connection can push Task and Checklist data into a Google Sheet or a CSV file as it's created, so you've got a running list instead of a one-time pull. It might take a little experimentation on your end, but these tools can open up a lot of doors regarding what you can do with your CompanyCam data.
Thanks again for bringing this up! Keep the requests coming! 🙌

Reviews Widget

Hey there! Thanks for your feedback!

A dedicated reviews widget you can drop straight into your site isn't available currently, but your Portfolio page already shows your Google reviews on the About tab. So if you've got a Portfolio set up, your reviews are already out there working for you alongside your Project photos — no code, no plugin.

A couple of ways folks make that work on their own website:
  • Link to your Portfolio on your website. One click and customers see your finished jobs and your star ratings in the About section.
  • Embed your Website Gallery so your actual Project photos live on your site.
That combo, along with ensuring you send Review Requests from CompanyCam so your Google profile stays fresh, gets you close, but we can totally see how a dedicated reviews widget on your website would be pretty slick!

As for a true standalone reviews widget: our team is actively rethinking how our website widgets work, and reviews are part of that conversation. I can't make any promises, but it's being explored. Posts like yours are exactly what helps shape what gets built, so thank you. 🙌

  • Question Question
Picture Organization

Is there any chance in the future we will be able to reorganize or move pictures around within the project screen rather than moving them around after creating the report? Sometimes I take the pictures out of order and moving them around after creating the photo report is not easy especially when I have only two photos per page so I have to hold the image down and move it down or up very slowly. Thanks!

Quality of Life changes

Hey there, thanks for flagging this one!

Straight answer: scroll-wheel zoom inside the photo viewer isn't something CompanyCam supports today. You're not the first person to ask for it, though, and the feedback is already logged on our end — I've added your note to it so it carries a little more weight.

In the meantime, the only thing that gets you close is the workaround you mentioned already: your Zoom In and Zoom Out button on your photo editor page. I'll share more details about where that's located in the web app.

Appreciate you taking the time to write this up! 🙌

Job Customer / Client / Contacts

Hey Roger, thanks for sharing your feedback!

What exists today, and why it probably isn't your answer: A Customer record can hold more than one contact — name, email, phone, and a role each. So technically you could keep the restoration firm as your Customer and add the homeowner as a second contact. The catch is that those contacts belong to the Customer, not the job, and would stay linked. We can totally see why that would not work. What you actually need is contact info that lives on the job, and that's the gap. I've logged your workflow against the request we're already tracking for.

On the job number and PO side: we've got work underway that'll let you put your own labeled fields on a Project so things like Job Number and Purchase Order have a real home instead of living in the description. No date I can promise you, but keep an eye in the app and the News Center for updates on Custom Fields.

In the meantime, two things that'll buy you some sanity:
  • Put the job number right in the Project name, something like "24-1138 — 123 Maple St." Project names are searchable, so you can pull a job up fast from the feed.
  • Keep a fixed block at the top of the description, similar to what you're already doing: Job #, PO #, Homeowner, Phone, same order every time. Not pretty, but it's scannable, and it'll be easy to lift into real fields later.
Thanks for laying out the actual workflow. We'll be sure to get this feedback in front of the right team! 🙌

The awesome search is gone with new update!

Hey Adam! Thanks for chiming in here!

Quick question for you: are you looking for the Project search on the Project feed? That's still there, but I can understand the confusion because, the Home page is your default page now. Click on the Project section in the left navigation bar and search your Projects there.

Let me know if you're referring to something else!

Price Book Categories

Hey Briana, thanks for taking the time to write this up! 🙌

Price Book categories aren't something we can do today. Items live in one list with a name, description, unit cost, and unit type, so a few thousand line items is a lot of scrolling. We can totally see why categorizing items would be easier and faster.

The good news: Categories for the Price Book is something the product team is actively exploring right now. I can't make any promises, but this one's firmly on the radar.

In the meantime, here's the workaround our contractors are using to make a big Price Book workable:

Prefix your item names with a category code. Something like BATH - Vanity 36" or TRIM - Baseboard 3-1/4". Because the Price Book sorts and searches on item name, prefixing effectively clusters everything by category — type "TRIM" and you've filtered to trim. Use a consistent separator so it stays clean.

Build it in a spreadsheet, then import. Price Book takes a CSV import with Item name, Description, and Unit cost. This way, you can keep your master list in Excel or Sheets.

Use the Description field as a second search hook. Drop extra keywords in there (room, trade, vendor) and they're searchable too.

Not as good as the real thing, I know, but your feedback is getting in front of the right people. Keep the ideas coming!

Time Entries on Project page.

Hey there! Good news! You can already do this on mobile! 🎉

Admins and Managers can open any Project and tap the Clock Icon in the top left corner of the mobile app. It'll pull up the entries logged against that job, so you don't have to bounce out to the Time tab and filter back down. That update went out recently in app version 10.0.52, so grab the latest update if you haven't. I'll share a Time Tracking help article with more details.

On web we're not there yet. The Time Tracking page is still the place for the full picture. But bringing time onto the Project page on web is actively being explored.

In the meantime on web, you can filter the Time Tracking page down to a single project and export it to CSV if you need to hand hours off for payroll or billing.

Thanks for writing this up! 🙌

3 Local SEO Tips for Contractors

A small step that often gets overlooked is checking whether the business details match everywhere. Contractors can update a phone number or address on Google but forget an older directory listing. I’d also verify the business name, address, and phone against the Google Business Profile and site. A free seo nap checker from Local SEO Audit Tool can help spot those mismatches before they become a recurring local SEO issue.

Adding a easy to see video button on all projects

Hey Tim! This is a great callout, and I love that you shared exactly where you envision it going!

Right now that row only tracks photos, Checklists, Documents and Files, so there's no separate video count there currently. You're not alone in wanting it, though. Another customer asked for the same thing just last week, and it's already logged with our Product team. Adding your post to it so it carries more weight. 💪

I can share a workaround that's less work than manually applying Labels: Head to Photos in the left navigation bar, then use the Type filter to narrow to videos. You'll get every video in your account, each one showing the project it belongs to, so you can spot which jobs have video without anyone having to remember to label anything. Stack it with the User or Date filters if you want to narrow further.

Not the same as the count on the Project row you're after, but it should get you what you need today without the manual step.

Thanks for taking the time to write it up! 🙌

Email forward for storage and easy retrieval

Hi there, thanks for your feedback on what you'd like to see in CompanyCam!

As you already mentioned, we can't do this today. There's no per-project email address, so there's no way to forward a message in and have it (or its attachments) park itself in the project automatically.

I'm passing your write-up along to our Product team. Thanks for taking the time to spell out the workflow. 🙏

Include Document File Structure in Project Templates + Allow Template-Based Project Creation from External Triggers

Good morning,

I would also like to request the ability to add folders to our project template. We need the folders to be the same on all jobs so people know where to look for the documentation they need and so everyone knows where each type of document should be saved. Adding them manually on every project gets time consuming.

Thank you!

Job Customer / Client / Contacts

We are a subcontractor that works for restoration firms who have clients. Our customers are the restoration firms and pm - they pay the bills. Not the home owner.

So in CC, the project is the job, the customer is the restoration firm but we lose track of the job contact (typically the home owner). We also can't easily keep track of the job number and purchase orders for the job and other administrivia. I'm currently putting that info into the description, but there's gotta be a better cleaner way

It would be great if the job info had that contact info like: Client name, email, phone, and generic notes
The job could have: Job number, purchase order.
The Customer field works for us as is.

Photos while recording!

Hey there! Love this one, and you're not alone in asking for it.

Makes total sense. You're mid-site walkthrough, you spot one thing worth a clean shot, and stopping the recording to get it is a pain. Good news: this is something our Camera team is actively exploring right now. I can't make any promises, but it's on the radar and being looked at seriously — so thank you for adding your voice.

In the meantime, a couple of things that might get you close:

Talk while you shoot photos. If the reason you're recording is to narrate what you're seeing, you can skip video entirely. Take photos and use Quick Caption, which turns your voice into a written note right on the photo, hands-free. You end up with the detail shots and the explanation, and the notes are searchable later in a way video audio isn't.

Pull the photo after the fact. Grab your detail shots right before or right after the recording. Since everything files to the same project automatically, they'll all live together in the feed either way.

Keep 'em coming! 🙌
