New Hire Onboarding Checklist - Help Please

Hey there!

We may not have an onboarding checklist specifically designed to help a new user become more comfortable with CompanyCam, but I passed it along to the team just in case!

If you're on the Premium or Elite plan, you do get access to the Community Checklist Templates. More on that HERE

And while there isn't a way to share teamplates directly between one CompanyCam account to another, we do have other resources where you can come upon the topic of creating something like this - specific to your team and how you are using CompanyCam:
  • You can register for Classes! These are free, and you can watch previously recorded Classes or register for an upcoming class. Here’s more info: CompanyCam Classes.
  • We have a mobile app demo and a How-To Video Playlist on YouTube: Demo & Playlist.
  • Check out our Help site!
  • User guides for Account Owners, Office Admin, Crew Members, and more!

Business merging

Ok I know some of us are content creators as well as multiple business owners. Right now I own 3 businesses and the paperwork is driving me bananas. Invoicing, job and profit tracking, transferring funds between businesses to organize hours and material spent on each due to having one single credit account at the suppliers.

I’ve been toying with the ideal of merging the companies into one incorporated company (my plumbing company is incorporated and content, and roofing company are separate sole proprietors), or at least merge the content and plumbing since a lot involves product and labour for both myself and my assistant. The roofing is just a small side. Challenging is an understatement. Not to mention the insane tax rate for sole props. I’m open to thoughts and ideas if anyone has done the same or has been in a similar situation??

Ah Mary-Anne! Separate from CompanyCam, my No. 1 day-to-day priority, I've thought about doing the same with some of my other side businesses that I do for fun (Session Solos, JTal Guitars, etc.). The content creation stuff has been the most rewarding and takes up more time than the others, so I've thought about rolling it all up under that. I've got some experience with it in terms of being in S-Corps, multiple LLC setups in the past but not enough to guide anyone but myself yet.

This is me saying, I'm considering the same, on a much smaller level than you (way smaller lol) and I'm willing to trade notes while not having a ton of answers yet. ;)

How do you track your expenses?

We use Fyle. Started about six months ago. As far as I know, the CFO likes it. President is happy with the reduction in office hours required to sort and track expenses across about 20 company cards. They allow for pretty easy sorting by job, customer, reason, and more. The nice thing is that it automatically saves pictures of the receipts to the transactions. For the most part, it can transcribe the merchant, and the price. Sometimes you have to correct it before submission, but overall, it has streamlined our expense tracking. Have no idea what it costs the company, but so far it has been worth the effort and cost.

Workforce tracks all the labor hours and time sheets. For independent work I've done in the past, I really like Time Squared. Simple. Free. Meat and potatoes.
Amazing thank you! I’ll check that out for sure. I def need things to be easier.

🎶 What are you listening to during the day on or off the job site? 🎙️

I heard the brain is a muscle, it needs some recovery time lol. But i agree sometimes you need to run on Beast Mode and progress gets addicting especially when you learn something new and apply it and see the fruits of your hard work.
Absolutely! I actually don’t listen to anything in the morning. 4am-8am (minus an hour gym time) I wallow in my own thoughts which I’m not sure is any better 😂

New Hire Onboarding Checklist - Help Please

Hey CompanyCam and Company!

I don't think the thread title articulates what I am asking for all that well. If anyone could kindly point me in the right direction of a new hire checklist that is strictly CompanyCam oriented, that would be great. We are in process of expanding and with some minor turnover I feel like I spend a couple of hours each week going over how to do basic functions like entering a new project. How to edit a photo after taking it, how to choose a photo tag versus a project tag.

Nonetheless, any insight is appreciated, come one come all, I will not be disappointed to learn how others are teaching their most valuable assets to use their most valuable assets throughout the course of the work day.

Truer words have never been spoke: "progress gets addicting."

Sure does.

Podcasts on Financial Freedom and investing, often all day long. Lol

Inventory Tracking System

Just got a QRC gun, working on a little project before we sprint it. Ill keep you guys updated when I figure it out. Have you guys checked out Kaizenify?
We looked at that and a couple other ones. We aren't selling to consumer a ton, so we aren't necessarily moving pieces like it appears they benefit the most. The parts we ship out to buyers are the same parts we also use on jobsites. We mainly just need a tracking software that can easily transfer and ship products but also keep recordings of movement.

How do you track your expenses?

Just wondering how everyone tracks your expenses and bookkeeping stuff. I just adapted over the years as I learned more about business ownership, but curious as to how other people do it. I’m always up for improving so thought this would be a great place to ask.

Me personally I log all pdfs into Goodle Drive based per month, per business, per account, with separating misc receipts from suppliers.

I also add the name of seller, the job name, expense total, invoice number and date so they’re easily searchable if needed.

All files are shared with my bookkeeper & accountant monthly.

Inventory Tracking System

I will let you know. Look up inFlow on YouTube. There were a bunch of tutorials and interviews showing how it works and who it works for. It looks pretty integrated for any business utilizing trucks, multiple locations, and sublocations. Documents every transfer, sales order, and transaction, and can even generate barcodes and QR codes for items in your warehouse.
