Was was your biggest "disaster day" you had in your career?

Everyone's got one—that moment where everything went sideways and you learned a lesson the hard way.

I got to thinking about this when I heard Jarod Coffman's story about his first time leading a 20-person crew and what happened on day one (see the video below)

What's yours? What's a day or a moment you'll never forget?

Drop it below. Someone's gonna learn from your pain.

🔥 Hot topic: Prices for your work 🔥

In cutting some clips from the Good Contractor Podcast, it never ceases to amaze me how every few episodes we get on the "you're not charging enough" conversation.

I put an example from Paul Jamison below when he first started his business (see below for the clip).

Some have shared with me during interviews over the past few years that it sometimes came down to being afraid to have "the price conversation" with customers.

How often do you look at what you're charging? Are you changing prices each year? More often? Less often?

Pushing checklist reminders to the team?

I'll give this a try next week and hopefully we can make this work to our advantage.
Good morning gang,

We have also been trying a workaround for this.
1. Create report using AI Walkthrough
2. Create checklist using the AI or Populate a pre-made template
3. Create a task that you directly assign to team member. (Task 1 Review Checklist, Task 2 Document Before and after photos, Task 3 Complete Checklist)

The team has set up there app to have "MY STUFF" at the top of their Home Screen, which you can rearrange. So not only is there a push notification and a reminder but they can see it as completing the checklist as a task that is always visible. @KAyersETC

Spooky Season is here

I'm here admitting this since it seems to be a safe place but I've never been a fan of horror movies. Not in a, they freak me out way, but just seem ridiculous. All that's to say ... I'm here for the candy.

Snickers + Sour Patch Kids please
here for the candy and costumes and pumpkin spice. you can leave the spooky scary at the door...

The begging question

I've found with having a routine the only consistent thing through different seasons of my life is I have to be flexible! I try to stick to a routine but inevitably everyday looks different and life gets in the way of my ideal routine. For me, if I can have a consistent night routine (going to bed around the same time, journaling, etc.) and a consistent morning routine (gym, shower, breakfast, etc.), I'm more equipped to handle the busyness of the day!

The begging question

What does everyone’s daily routing look like? I’m up at 4:15am, admin, gym, editing, work, work, work until sometimes late into the night. Making lunches and dinner can seem daunting with a crazy (self inflicted) schedule. Yet I can’t stop doing this to myself. Ever since opening my company it’s been the same. Do you have a job that you’re not able to just drop belt at 4:30pm and head home? Plumbing is challenging as you often have someone’s heat or water off so there’s no bouncing til your done. Time management is definitely not my greatest skill, how the hell does one survive?! Or fix this insanity?! I’m tired! But, I do holiday a lot for extended periods as I have to remove myself from home to actually decompress so theirs is a light at the end of the tunnel at least.

Funniest rookie mistake 😅😂

This clip from back in Season 1 of the Good Contractor Podcast got me thinking about posing the question on the community…

What’s the funniest “rookie mistake” or “rookie confusion” you made or had when you were just starting out?

In the clip, Desmond Tse (The Siding Guy) shared how he thought he was getting paid per square foot at a certain rate (when it was by a square) 🫠
